Hello everyone! We just finished up space last week and started Asia on Tuesday! I share already in the Facebook group but want to share here too! I can only upload 5 photos so will share the rest in the comments! I was worried my kids were not going to be very interested in learning about other countries more so my 7 year old. so I decide to be as creative as possible lol. I figured I would show what books we are using for The connecting continent’s units and what extra activities I picked to do with my 7 and 11 year old that will go well with all the connecting continent units. So yesterday we explored our very 1st country, the Philippines! We “flew” out of our living room in Oahu and Landed in Manila Philippines, they had to give me their boarding pass and passport which got “stamped” (cut out stamp that I glued to their passport) when they arrived in the Philippines (this activity took all of 5 min). I became their personal tour guide as I read to them out of the teachers guide, then we went exploring the Philippines (via YouTube) learned about what they eat, how they live, what animals are there, visited some of the Philippines iconic locations! Then Around lunchtime we took a field trip to a Famous fast food chain that is from the Philippines called Jolibees, there are 30 in America so definitely see if you have one near you. We Bought a whole bunch of things to share and try from their menu, and then ended our day writing in their passports, mini travel journal, and animal notebook, and we got to scratch off our very 1st county on our scratch off map! We are off to Indonesia tomorrow to embark on a new adventure, and I can definitely say I think I got creative enough and they are super excited😍! I do use the trello app to organize and plan our lessons so I will be sharing that as soon as I have it together and it will have the links to everything in our trello board so be on the look out I will post the link for my trello board here in this thread once I have it together! The passport, travel journal, animal notebook are all free downloads from Pintrest. The stamps are from teachers pay teachers website. Cost $4 for 72 stamps from 72 different countries and came in black and white and color! Not all the counties we are learning in Asia are in there so I had to google stamps for the missing countries. Some of the books so got for free I want to say that some are from masterbooks and then a few are from usborne. I do use the trello app to organize and plan our lessons so I will be sharing that as soon as I have it together and it will have the links to everything so be on the look out I will post the link for my trello board here in this thread once I have it together!
