Hello! I’m new around here. I am a single mom with two teenage daughters. I have some questions about homeschooling with Gather around, but first... Here’s a bit about me: Before our separation, I would of never thought our family would someday be divided. We were the “perfect” homeschool family on the outside, but our family was hurting behind closed doors. As a married person, I never talked the “d” word and honestly, didn’t know how to whole heartedly love other women who had experienced this loss. This word was taboo and was/is a whole new world for me. God however, true to His nature, is gently leading the girls and showing us His grace (we come from a law/works based church). God is teaching me more about His unfailing love. I realize this is such a sensitive topic for many of us, but want you to know that if you find yourself in a similar situation, or even dealing with another hardship, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Though the night seems long, and the day oh so cold, your Father is nearer to you than it may feel. I pray today that God would touch you in such a way that you might recognize the embrace of His blanketed love for you. And that His deep love would give you rays of hope, strength and courage for the journey that lies ahead.♥️ Now for academic stuff:🙂 We are a mostly Charlotte Mason family, and I am excited about to be doing unit studies this year. I love the variety and selection of units! Here are my questions: 1. How does GR blend with CM philosophy? 2. Does anyone know when there might be More than Words for levels 3 and 4? 3. What do you use for bible with your middle/high schooler? 4. And lastly, for high school , do you recommend doing the extension activities for each unit? Do you add additional grammar and writing? I see this curriculum is heavy on research. I’d like something else to balance out the research and writing. What are your thoughts? I’d appreciate hearing them! Thank you so very much!
