Okay, so I know that it's a bit early to be talking about Christmas, but I was just wondering if anyone has made a switch in their home with Christmas in the sense of making it less about the gifts? Of course we celebrate Christmas and understand the reason for the season, but I feel like because of cultural norms there ends up being so much emphasis put on gifts... way more than I would like. How did you get your family out of this habit? I want Christmas to be about the birth of Jesus. I want Christmas to be special and amazing and meaningful, not just a time where we end up with a pile of plastic toys that my kids don't need. On the other hand, I feel like I am being a mean mom or something by not giving them a big Christmas full of toys like most other kids get. I would love some advice. Thank you.
