My son is in Grade 3 (we're halfway through our school year here in NZ) and he's not a proficient reader. He's currently reading the below, although not fluently, he is a bit stacato with his reading and needs to sound out maybe 1/4 of the words. So I've been hesitant to go all in with GA as I really want to progress his reading. ER just doesn't feel like it does that as I read all of it to him. There is no practising reading or books for him to work through. Would there be any point in him doing R2R or will it be below what he's up to? Am I just panicking too much and should embrace ER and he'll get there with his reading eventually? Or do I need to help him pick up his reading some more before we exclusively use GA?
