ERIC CARLE INSPIRED OCEANS PROJECT 1) RESEARCH • Eric Carle children’s books (for inspiration) • The Art of Eric Carle book • Collage Workshop for kids by Shannon Merenstein. 2) PAINT! • MANY sheets of paper • Paint • Items to make textures (sponges, tissue paper, diff brushes, etc.) 3) CHOOSE AN OCEAN ANIMAL • We printed off each animal as large as we could. 4) TRACE • We used a light table to trace the basic shapes we wanted onto tracing paper (This could also be accomplished with regular paper, masking tape and a sunlit window. However, since the tracing paper is semi transparent, it was easier to overlay on the painted paper to see what pattern they wanted for what part.) 4) NUMBER + CUT • I had the kids number each piece on their tracing paper and correlate that number on their printed paper before cutting the tracing paper (see image in comments). 5) TRACE + CUT • After cutting the shape out of the tracing paper, choose your painted paper and trace the shape. • Cut the painted paper • Label each piece of painted paper on the back with the corresponding tracing paper number (that way things don’t get so mixed up). 6) GLUE! • Glue each piece of your animal in place! ( We choose to paint backgrounds on a solid piece of paper before gluing everything down). The app only lets me add so many photos. See comments section for photos from Eric Carle’sbook on his method. #oceans #oceansactivites #art #project #crafts
