Several people have asked if I would share my rubric for grading high school and such. I have not put it all together yet.😊 So I thought I would share some other simple, helpful things that each family can take and make their own. Almost all of the things I am sharing were gleaned from others. I am so thankful for the families and teachers that share their wisdom.❤️ I also want to strongly recommend to you that simple is always better. Please do not feel the need to over complicate things. Simple is better. When simple has been overly used and mastered then you can add a needed thing to the simple foundation. Less is more and little things add up. That being said, I am adding a screenshot of a simple annotation system that another mother shared on this page as well as a video for a little more complex system for those who are ready for that. I share these first because your high school students should be reading something and writing about it in some form. This is a skill that is useful in all areas of life not just college. If they are writing about it, even in letter form, annotating, or marking, will be indispensable. If there is wonderful information on a website, I would encourage the student to print the page or pages with the info and use it to be annotated for writing purposes. If you have a reluctant writer, using annotated sentences or paragraphs as commonplace entries, aka adult copywork, is a great place to begin. Having your child explain to you why they chose that passage is the beginning of composition.
