For a 1/2 credit in zoology... I posted a question before about trying to give a zoology credit with all the animal pages that are assigned throughout the continent units. Just thought I would share what I am adding to round out a 1/2 credit for zoology (not including labs). I found a book series called "The Web of Life" on Amazon and there are 6 books in the series. The age range says 11-15 years or 6-10th grade, so for earlier high school. I am having my son answer some random questions that I pull from the reading so there is a little output. The books are thin and are quick reads. They could easily be used for lower grades as well, but I think they add enough backbone to the study of zoology for early HS. We are also going to use some other worksheets from Teachers Pay Teachers that will change up how we do research on the animal pages from GR (focusing more on adaptations, food webs, mutualism, competition, abiotic or biotic factors, etc). The worksheets are “Animal Research: Animal, Ecology, Biome, Habitat Activity for Big Kids” by Lauren Zetterholm. Also, know that we have only done South America, Oceans and US History 1 from GR, so maybe other GH units include more info and these extras are not needed...? Here are the books and ISBN numbers: Adaptation and Survival ISBN 978 1 4109 4408 5 Behavior in Living Things ISBN 978 1 4109 4405 4 Food Chains and Webs ISBN 978 1 4109 4404 7 The Future of Life on Earth ISBN 978 1 4109 4406 1 Life Processes ISBN 978 1 4109 4403 0 Variation in Living Things ISBN 978 1 4109 4407 8
