I was reading a devotion about John 6:35. The writer retold the story of Jesus cooking fish for the disciples, on the shore. She mentioned that this opened her eyes to a Heavenly Father who is eager to spend time with us, and this further inspired her to have “breakfast with Jesus” each morning. How beautiful is that? I think it’s easy to make our daily devotion a checklist to be done or make it picture worthy looking. But nobody says it needs to be that way. There will be many years ahead to have the “Instagram worthy” Bible studies, but right now my breakfast with Jesus is going to look different. Right now, it may be filled with quiet coffee time in the dark so I don’t wake up my youngest. For you, it may mean your Bible time wardrobe is crusted with half chewed toddler puffs, decorated with spit up, or in your old robe. That’s ok! Our Heavenly Father wants to spend time with us. He wants us to come as we are. He’s eagerly waiting on the shore!
